If you’ve been thinking about giving your windows a fresh new look, plantation shutters are a great choice. Known and loved for their timeless style and practicality, they suit every home – from a classic period property to a modern family space. Here in Esher, we’ve helped many homeowners over 25 years transform their space with beautifully made plantation shutters. We take care of the whole process, from your initial FREE quote, right through to completion of fitting with care and precision every step of the way.
Plantation shutters are more than just a window covering – they’re a statement feature that adds instant kerb appeal and long-term value to your home. Designed with wide, horizontal louvres that can be tilted to control sunlight and privacy, these shutters strike the perfect balance between style and substance.
Unlike curtains or blinds, shutters are fitted directly to the window frame, giving a solid, built-in look that’s clean, durable, and easy to maintain. They work beautifully in both traditional and modern spaces, and because they’re made to measure, the fit is always spot on.
shutters offer a long list of benefits that go beyond just aesthetics. They’re excellent for insulation, helping to keep your rooms warm in winter and cool in summer. The adjustable louvres give you precise control over light and privacy, which makes them ideal for street-facing rooms, bedrooms and bay windows.
They’re also incredibly low maintenance – no fabrics to wash or dust – and come in a variety of finishes, from painted to natural wood, to match your interior perfectly. At Controlux, we even offer moisture-resistant options for kitchens and bathrooms.
From bright, open-plan kitchens to cosy living rooms and elegant master bedrooms, plantation shutters work in almost any space. They can be designed to suit awkward-shaped or bay windows, French doors, and even skylights or conservatories.
Each shutter is custom-built to suit your home’s architecture, whether that’s classic sash windows or more modern double glazing. If you’re unsure about the style or finish, we’re happy to guide you through the options to help you make the right choice.
